Abstract

In this article we approach gender inequalities in the world of work through the experiences of women who have worked or are working in the fishing industry of Mar del Plata. The intention is to identify some intertextuality between the image that workers have of themselves and the representations other actors have of them. We will refer to working lives reconstructed through interviews, media, statements of senior staff and officials. These biographical accounts will reveal the judgments of other actors towards women. Glances, teasing, sexual assault, form part of the repertoire with which this retrospective dialogue is built. The narratives also suggest that these women do not victimize themselves due to the adversity, but are strengthened as autonomous subjects.
