Abstract

This research plan basically involves a textual analysis of and reflection on ten autobiographical narrations written in Basque. The texts chosen feature the common thread of events in connection with the Civil War, and we feel they are a good representation of a generation of Basques living in times of conflict. In their autobiographical narratives the authors vividly portrayed the horror, the senselessness and the bitterness of war, and also conveyed to us the terrible harshness of their suffering. The first drafts of the plan revealed to us that it contained many inherent complications in terms of, among others, methodology, epistemology and politics, and we wish to share these here.
