Abstract

The article addresses issues concerning the anthropological study of politics and political processes by means of two investigations, both focusing on the study of political engagement. The first is a ten-year investigation which examines the work of Peronist politicians and militants; and the second is a current research project on the political commitments of the Basque-Argentine community in Buenos Aires. By comparing the two bodies of research, our aim is to make a conceptual contribution by using the anthropological notion of value as an approach to distinguish the importance of theoretical matters within what tends to be lumped together as methodological issues.
