Abstract

This article analyses a particular use of kinship terminology in Morocco, focusing primarily on Jbalan ethnographic materials. It examines marriage between humans and jnun (ar. geniuses or spirits, frequently malefic), and it reflects on the role of affinity as a means of establishing an interspecific alliance.
