The image of ethnographic practice
Keywords:
visuality, embodied experience, anthropological knowledge, ethnographic practiceAbstract
This paper presents a theoretical and methodological reflection on the place of the image and the visual in the ethnographic practice. The exposition will be divided into three parts: a first approach to the visual as sensorial experience as a mode of anthropological understanding and knowledge production; a look towards the visual as object of study, and, finally, a proposal for understanding the image use as a transformative element of the ethnographic practice.
